As the saying goes, “practice doesn’t make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect.” TECHFIT Digital Surgery provides surgeons with the tools for perfect practice, so patients affected by trauma, infection and cancer can benefit from life-changing outcomes. Through digital simulation planning, 3D printing and custom-made implants, the Daytona Beach medical technology firm is innovating bone reconstruction surgery. Its solutions are designed to improve accuracy, reduce surgery time and create better medical outcomes by placing digital and 3D models of various body parts in doctors’ hands so they can practice a procedure long before stepping into the operating room.
Ecosystem Wins
Originally from Colombia, TECHFIT CEO Mauricio Toro engaged with several resources throughout The Corridor’s regional ecosystem to relocate the firm to Central Florida. Toro’s team found success in collaboration with Team Volusia Economic Development Corporation, the University of Central Florida Business Incubator’s Soft Landing Program, the Embry‑Riddle Aeronautical University’s John Mica Engineering and Aerospace Innovation Complex (MicaPlex), and The Corridor’s Cenfluence industry clustering initiative, among others.
In 2023, TECHFIT was recognized among GrowFL’s Florida Companies to Watch finalists, selected from more than 400 nominations for its high performance. In 2022, it inked a research agreement with Mayo Clinic, just north of The Corridor region in Jacksonville. TECHFIT has also won the $40,000 grand prize in the 2020 Florida Early-Stage Capital Conference and Statewide Collegiate Startup Competition hosted by Space Florida and the Florida Venture Forum, and in 2019 was recognized with the Volusia County Innovation and Healthcare Award.
