iNur Technologies was co-founded by University of South Florida (USF) faculty and staff from diverse disciplines spanning medicine, communications, education and engineering who share a passion for giving a voice to the voiceless. Its AI-enabled technology acts as an assistant for people with aphasia, a language disorder resulting from stroke or other brain trauma that affects more than 2 million Americans. iNur’s advanced language processing technology empowers patients with the confidence to re-engage in meaningful conversations.
Additionally, iNur Technologies is developing a portable device backed by its technology that can translate spoken conversations between Taiwanese Hokkien and English.
Ecosystem Wins:
iNur Technologies was participating in FL FAST’s cohort for companies pursuing Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) funds from the National Science Foundation when co-founders spotted a Department of Defense topic that was uniquely suited for their technology and skills.
The topic requested support in developing a device for translating Taiwanese Hokkien to English. The company’s Chief Financial Officer and Vice President KK Quah is fluent in Hokkien, which gave iNur Technologies a competitive edge. Within three weeks, the team quickly pivoted to develop and submit a proposal. They were notified in August 2023 of their SBIR award win.
In February 2024, iNur Technologies received one of three Foundation Bull Ring Accelerator Grants jointly by the USF Foundation and the USF Research Foundation, and remains on track to submit another SBIR proposal to the National Science Foundation in November.
