Our cornerstone Matching Grants Research Program (MGRP) fosters applied research engaging high tech industry partners with a presence in our 23-county region and researchers from the University of Central Florida, the University of South Florida and the University of Florida.

By matching investments in research and development, we enable companies to maximize their budgets and tap into the expertise of faculty and student researchers from three of the nation’s largest research institutions. Students often become employees of the companies they work within the program and industry partners routinely form lasting research relationships with the universities.

Since 1996, our MGRP has delivered an incredible return, generating downstream impacts of more than $1 billion and impacting thousands of lives through education and life-changing breakthroughs.

Grant Opportunities:

  • The Open Call – For every $1 of matching funds from The Corridor Council, the industry partner provides a minimum of $1. Awards typically range from $10,000 to $150,000.
  • SBIR/STTR Phase II Match – The Corridor Council provides a match on funds received by participants of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) or Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs.

How to Apply:

Proposals are reviewed year-round by a committee of researchers and partners at each university. Companies located within the 23-county region may submit proposals to collaborate with researchers from one, two or all three universities. Application requirements and investment matches may differ. Please contact the program directors directly for more information.
